UK - Cadac Holdings Ltd., Luton, Beds. UK., Trinity Baptist Church was founded as recently as 1990 yet today it numbers 13 branches, in London and South East England, as well as in Italy, Norway, Denmark and Ghana. Seven London branches of the church have now been joined by the all-new Oasis House in Croydon which opened its doors on Easter Sunday this year. An ultra-modern worship and social complex, at its heart is a 900-capacity auditorium. A complex 32 zone audio installation throughout the centre includes a Proel Axiom compact line array system serving the main auditorium.

Given the scale and geometry of the auditorium, a classic centre cluster arrangement, with delayed front fills and floor-stationed subwoofers under the stage, was specified, to provide a stable image and optimal coverage throughout the space. Near-field front fills were built into the stage and step risers, to ensure good coverage across the front rows of seating. Rapidly configurable stage monitoring was facilitated by means of connection to any of 16 stage concealed stage box positions.

The relative complexity of the installation and required degree of versatility, in providing audio feeds throughout the complex – in particular to the 300-capacity seating area behind glass at the rear of the auditorium – as well as monitor mixes for stage and side of the stage band position from FOH, demanded a console with extensive I/O and mix capabilities, and control from an intuitive user interface. Discussion and evaluation led system integrator Lagniappe and Head Sound Engineer Roddy Maharaj, to Cadac, who met expectations and requirements with a full frame CDC eight-32, dual 24-inch touch screen, 32 fader live sound console; along with CDC I/O 6448 stagebox and CDC MC Dante bridge network system components.

In situ the CDC eight’s advanced specifications and intuitive workflow were quickly appreciated by Roddy and his team, and the exceptional quality it brought to sound production was readily apparent via the Proel installation. All of which prompted Roddy to state, “The Cadac is one of the best desks available, not only for the amazing sound quality. Their algorithms I think are better than all the other digital desks out there.”
